No one's mentioned pets yet?
My ranger spends half her time wondering why Mr Pet refuses to come with her into towns. Hilarity ensues when she asks people if they've seen him.

Because I'm more comfortable tanking dungeons/DoA with a ranger than any other class. Feels more natural to me for some reason.

I can hit every target on the field without moving, and I can move when I need to. I see everything from my position, but I'm not afraid to stand my ground the balance of armor (70 physical, 100 elemental).
I have Expertise to keep my energy costs down and give me stances to ignore melee as I snipe a healer or take down a boss.
I can spike high, speed run past foes or pull without thinking about it. I can interrupt if I need to and inflict most conditions without using PvE skills (though I wish for cracked armor or deep wound).
To top it off? I look good doing it all. It's hard to go wrong with it. Oh, and screw DPS, I don't need to go chase my dinner, I hunt it.

Pretty much this. Bow and survivability are great things.

Yup, that was what it was like to be a rnager in the early days of GW. Shame the last 3 years being a ranger sucked.

Recently, because she looks sick with her dual swords (alari's double blades) in melee with her pet, gets mad damage while doing so, but can sit back and play a more utility based role if I wish.

Something doesnt need to be that great for it to be loved ^^

It's a relationship. You may not like things about your partner, but you're married and wouldn't give him/her up for anyone else.

Because bows are awesome. I love archery and practice it in real life, so of course it always appeals to me in a game.
Also they look cool, spreading conditions is fun, and pets can be fun (though I usually don't use them).

Even though they don't measure up to the bigwigs of GW, they look stylish and as many have pointed out the rangers pixels are nothing to scoff at .

i like ranger because it can use syche, hammer, and can even play touch ranger for fun. bottomline is, it is very flexible. not as good as a warrior on hammer or necro on blood, but is still effective enough. most importantly, it is cute

I love them for most reasons mentioned here
Flexible is one of the main reasons.
At the minute i'm using spirits to cause a poop load of damage and annoyance to bad dudes

1st because its my main and first character, but rangers are just awesome. They look cool have a cool concept and have great survivability. Expertise rules, I remember the first time I made an alt I kept on trying to activate skills at 1/2 energy My main problem is lack of variation in ranger skills, which could be debated.
Ranger FTW

They are the balanced proffesion
They are the proffesion of balance, while a warrior is a 10-0 a ranger is a 5-5, they're good at practicaly everything but are not the best of anything. extremely well with 2ndary profesions. Such as R/Rt (cough splinter barrage) (cough touch ranger) and lets face it, longer range than a warrior while giving out good dps to sometimes 1 foe OR 8 foes. Its a monks perpetual problem: and another thing, a mesmer is about to rupt a monks dire heal to the most important person in the party, you see this, and you interupt the mesmers interupt, it just feels good . BEST LOOKING CLASS, BEST DANCE MOVES. so why do we love you ranger? cuz you da best
